An official of a petroleum giant called on students to advocate “smarter performance, infrastructure, and use” of energy in a seminar last October. Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation’s Engr. Colin Chin, technical manager for Shell Eco-Marathon Asia, explained in a lecture his company’s approach to meeting increased energy demand while lowering greenhouse gas emission. He also recounted Shell’s aim to encourage long-term, positive lifestyle changes through “smarter use.” He cited a drivers’ camp where motorists learn fuel-saving techniques.
