The Arts Department of the University of Asia and the Pacific, in collaboration with the Center for Research and Communication, will hold The Arts Manager between Culture and Society: A Seminar-Workshop on Cultural Management on May 21-22, 2013 at PLDT Hall, 4/F APEC Communications Building, University of Asia and the Pacific, Pearl Drive, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
- The objectives of the seminar are as follows:
• To develop an appreciation and overview of the arts within culture and society at the management level as well as the role of mediation in society and cultural life;
• To understand the specific role of the arts manager who operates as mediator between society and culture;
• To understand the specific demands for managing small and large projects, as well as the tools and skills needed to function ethically, imaginatively and resourcefully within the arts and cultural industries to advance the arts within the Philippines and Asia.
The main speaker will be Dr. Enrique Banús, Ph.D., a Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, Universidad Internacional de Catalunya (UIC). He will be assisted by Mr. David Ocón, Arts Manager and consultant, Ph.D candidate at UP Los Baños and a member of the Faculty of Humanities at Universidad Internacional de Catalunya (UIC).
Only a limited number of slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A registration fee of Php 1,000.00.head will be collected for the kit, Certificate of Participation, lunch and snacks. Pre-registration is a must. Deadline is on May 16.
