In the area of social economics, CRC involves a wide range of research focusing on how economics and business can – without losing their predominant concerns on getting the maximum material benefits from relatively scarce resources – still be instruments for attaining societal goals.

Eminent Filipino economist Dr. Bernardo Villegas sets the agenda for the work of CRC in this area, with a particular attention on the future of Philippine MSMEs and cooperatives, and the social contributions of businesses in education, food and agribusiness, energy, transport and logistics, infrastructure and industry, health and wellness, and the country’s emerging digital super-sector.
