UA&P president, Dr. Jose Maria Mariano and Ret. Vice Admiral Eduardo Mar Santos, president of Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP), signed a Memorandum of Understanding on March 10, 2014 at UA&P. MAAP is a non-stock non-profit private higher educational institution, established by the Associated Marine Officers and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP) and created to provide scholarships to deserving Filipino students interested to pursue a rewarding career in the seafaring profession. CRC-UA&P is a non-stock, non-profit public policy research institution undertaking research in migration and Overseas Filipino Work that aims to promote integral human development. CRC Research Director for Operations, Dr. Veronica Ramirez and MAAP Research Director, Dr. Angelica Baylon, signed as witnesses to the MOU. Under the MOU, the two institutions will provide opportunities to conduct collaborative research studies, opportunities for the exchange of professors and for participation of academic personnel in roundtable discussions, research seminars, workshops to be conducted in both institutions that are of mutual interest.
