The Center for Research and Communication (CRC) will hold the first of a series of Round Table Discussions on BPO with the theme Research in the Business Process Outsourcing Industry on April 5, 2013 (Friday) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Telengtan Hall of the University of Asia and the Pacific. There will be brief paper presentations, followed by open forum and discussions. The larger global industry is heading toward greater challenges, remaining optimistic about the inevitable expansion of off-shoring or outsourcing work as a viable option for firms to save on costs, leverage on quality and gain flexibility. These expected developments in the industry signal the need to undertake a more in-depth study of the present conditions of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry. In this light, research is imperative to creating an environment that can (a) compete with its neighbors in attracting Foreign Investors, (b) boost local manufacturing and (c) stimulate industry growth that conditions the rise in services, combined with more off-shored jobs coming from the West. Research in BPO can unravel its organizational nature and character as a basis for future organizational reform, and for strengthening current policies governing its operations for the benefit of both employer and employee. The activity is free of charge. Limited slots will be given on a first come, first-served basis.
