“A Homage in Flowers” book cover[/caption]
The Center for Research and Communication recently launched the book A Homage in Flowers, authored by Bess Briones at Fully Booked, Fort Bonifacio High Street. The book features the making of the floral carpet at ST. Peter’s Square for the day of the canonization of St. Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer. It comes with a DVD that shows the ceremonies during the days of the canonization. The author lived in Rome for almost 28 years, working in the domestic administration of different centers of Opus Dei. Her duties included decorating for important events including the one detailed in the book. “I thought that the flowers could help create an environment piety at the same time that they express the immense joy everyone felt.” she said. “In spite of the unpredictable happenings, our team worked with peace and intensity. We took more time than expected but nothing could diminish the joy and enthusiasm of collaborating in a unique and unrepeatable mission… Everyone’s aspiration was to work as best as possible in order to manifest in this way their devotion and gratitude to St. Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer.” Briones currently works for the Philippine Foundation for Cultural and Educational Development, Inc.
