[UA&P, Pasig City, Philippines]- On August 16, 2024, the Center for Research and Communication (CRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Office of the Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs (OSAPIEA) at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P). This agreement aims to solidify the collaboration between CRC and OSAPIEA, with CRC providing independent economic research and policy assessment, review, and insights to support OSAPIEA in its mission to advance inclusive economic growth and development for the Philippines.
The signatories were Dr. Winston Conrad Padojinog, CRC President, and Special Assistant to the President (SAP) for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick D. Go. Official witnesses to the signing were CRC Vice President Dr. Bernardo Villegas and OSAPIEA Chief of Staff Leslie Vanessa Lim.
Dr. Villegas, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of informed decision-making in government policies. He highlighted the critical role that CRC will play in providing timely and evidence-based insights to help OSAPIEA fulfill its mandate under Executive Order No. 49. This collaboration will ensure that the government’s investment and economic policies are effectively implemented.
In his message, SAP Go underscored that “This partnership will strengthen our capacity to attract more investments, both domestic and foreign, ensuring that our economic policies create a robust and favorable investment climate.”
CRC’s mission of pursuing knowledge in the service of man and society aligns closely with the objectives of OSAPIEA, making this collaboration a significant step toward achieving sustainable and inclusive economic progress for the nation. CRC, with its long-standing reputation as an economic research think-tank since the 1960s, has been instrumental in shaping economic policies in the Philippines.
