UA&P and PhilHealth sign MOA for PhilHealth Employees Training
Atty. Alexander Padilla, President and CEO of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation signed the Memorandum of Agreement with UA&P President Dr. Jose Maria Mariano on October 27, 2014 at UA&P campus.
The new law, Republic Act No. 10606 of June 19, 2013, ensures that the poor and marginalized are covered by PhilHealth. This is a challenge for PhilHealth to further improve its health insurance program. Under the MOA, UA&P faculty and personnel will deliver training modules in a span of two years to address the needs of PhilHealth employees.
Dr. Veronica Ramirez, CRC Director for Operations, welcomes this partnership with its goals aligned to the UA&P Research Agenda, particularly on poverty alleviation, and citizenship and civic responsibility. “It is certainly an opportunity for us to support national development.”
According to Mrs. Nadine Navarro, Senior Manager of International & Local Engagement Department (ILED) of the Corporate Affairs Group, PhilHealth is fortunate and very grateful because “UA&P’s willingness to share its expertise, knowledge and skills in the fields of information technology, accounting and management, leadership, communication skills and law will ensure PhilHealth a highly-capacitated workforce.”
Dr. Josemaria Mariano, in his speech, said, “We are honored by the trust you have placed in our institution, and we are challenged to impart in the training sessions our best, both as individual instructors, and as an institution as a whole. With this opportunity that you have given us to be of service to a key institution in the government, we will be able to help one another move towards integral human development.”
Atty. Alexander Padilla expressed PhilHealth’s commitment to make the training a success and hope that the two years will extend to “more years of partnership” for the benefit of the Filipino people.
