Fuel expert lectures on “smarter use” of energy
An official of a petroleum giant called on students to advocate “smarter performance, infrastructure, and use” of energy in a seminar last October.
Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation’s Engr. Colin Chin, technical manager for Shell Eco-Marathon Asia, explained in a lecture his company’s approach to meeting increased energy demand while lowering greenhouse gas emission.
He also recounted Shell’s aim to encourage long-term, positive lifestyle changes through “smarter use.” He cited a drivers’ camp where motorists learn fuel-saving techniques.
Organized by the Center for Research and Communication and the School of Sciences and Engineering, Engr. Chin’s lecture was themed “The Application of Technology and Innovation to the Challenges that Face Transportation in the Future.”
Around 180 high school and college students from different schools attended the event.#
